The Montessori Education Method is a special method of education that was developed by Dr. Maria Montessori. The method was designed to ensure that children are given the right level of education in accordance with their needs. Freedom within certain limits is taught to the child. The environment itself is also designed and prepared in order to give children the correct materials. They will be able to use these materials in order to discover more about them and use their natural tendencies for curiosity. Exposure to different experiences and materials will allow the child to grow in many different ways. This includes mentally, physically and emotionally. The Premises of Montessori Education The first premise of Montessori education is that children are different from one another and, as individuals, they are also different from each other. One of the biggest points that is made is that children have a greater ability to learn and absorb information, one that is greater than that of most adults. Montessori methods also place a high level of importance on the first six years of a child’s life. Purposeful work for children is also important, although this kind of purposeful work is usually going to be different from what an adult sees as being “purposeful”.
